Athlete Capacity Evaluation

Assess the Capacity That Performance Depends On.

Service Description

Why We Focus on Fundamental Athlete Capacity While sport-specific skills matter, they are only as effective as the physical foundation beneath them. The Athlete Capacity Evaluation assesses the fundamental physical abilities every athlete needs, regardless of sport or position. When these capacities are underdeveloped, athletes often compensate, leading to slower progress and increased stress on the body. All athletic performance is built on four foundational capacity quadrants: Movement Control Postural Control Explosive Control Impact Control (Recycled Energy) 1. Movement Control The Motor Control Screen determines whether an athlete has the minimum level of body-weight motor control required for long-term performance adaptability. Using the Y-Balance Test, the MCS provides insight into how the athlete stabilizes, balances, and controls movement through space, highlighting asymmetries and control deficits that may impact performance or injury risk. 2. Postural Control The Postural Control Screen evaluates the athlete’s ability to maintain alignment and integrity under load. Postural stabilizer endurance should far exceed prime mover endurance, as the ability to maintain structure under load is more important than simply lifting heavier weight. This capacity is fundamental for efficient force transfer, safe loading, and long-term movement health. 3. Explosive Control The Power Screen evaluates an athlete’s ability to produce and control force rapidly using the Broad Jump, Broad Jump (Hands on Hips) and Single-Leg Jump. These tests assess power output relative to body weight while maintaining alignment and coordination. 4. Impact Control (Recycled Energy) Efficient running and bounding require the ability to absorb, store, and recycle energy. This screen evaluates how well an athlete manages repeated impacts and repurposes stored energy into subsequent movements. Test include Double Broad Jump, Triple Broad Jump, and the 2-1-2 Bound. These body-relative tests safely assess impact tolerance and energy efficiency in a sport-agnostic manner. Move 2 Perform Philosophy: Movement quality first. Capacity second. Performance built on a foundation that lasts.
